Mark Mather is associate vice president of Domestic Programs at the Population Reference Bureau, where he coordinates several projects that communicate population research to advocacy groups, educators, the media, and the public. He has authored more than a dozen reports on the well-being of children and families and has co-authored five Population Bulletins on U.S. demographic trends. He leads a project to investigate the characteristics and geographic distribution of scientists and engineers in the United States, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Mather has given numerous presentations at professional meetings and provides regular technical support to the Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT network and other audiences. He has been a frequent guest on television and radio broadcasts, including recent appearances on CNN, Reuters World News, the Fox News Channel, ABC News Radio, and XM Satellite Radio. He has a doctorate in sociology from the University of Maryland.
