Ragui Assaad is the Regional Director for West Asia and North Africa for the Population Council. From his base in Cairo, he directs a diverse portfolio of research and programs in six countries. His research focuses on labor markets and human resource development in the Middle East and North Africa as well as the transition to adulthood of Egyptian adolescents and youth. Assaad is on leave from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, where he has been a professor for more than 15 years.
