Marlene A. Lee is a senior research associate and editor of the Population Bulletin at the Population Reference Bureau. Her research includes analyses of race and gender differences in self-employment over the lifetime, low-wage employment in rural areas, and transitions from welfare to work. She is a member of the Population Association of America and serves on the editorial board of Rural Sociology. She holds degrees in public policy analysis and development sociology/demography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Cornell University.
