Karen Hardee, vice president of research
Population Action International
A social demographer for 25 years, Karen Hardee is vice president of research at Population Action International, where she provides technical direction on PAI’s diverse research portfolio on population and climate change, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and gender. She has extensive experience in these substantive areas as well as in project monitoring and evaluation. Hardee has also worked at John Snow, Inc., Futures Group International, Family Health International, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the U.S. Bureau of the Census. She holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University’s Population and Development Program. Her recent publications on population and climate change include: "How Do Recent Population Trends Matter to Climate Change," "Projecting Population, Projecting Climate Change: Population in IPCC Scenarios," and ETHIOPIA: SPECIAL REPORT.
